What is it about Islam?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Judah @ 11:48 pm

Why do I write about Islam?

Islam, as a system of beliefs, has the second greatest number of adherents in the world, following behind that of Christianity. Although historically discussion of Islam begins with Muhammad (c. a.d. 570–632), Muslims insist that Islam is God’s eternal religion for all humankind and that Muhammad was simply the last and greatest in a long line of prophets.

Around the year 610, while living in Mecca, Muhammad was troubled by the polytheism and superstition of the Arab tribal communities around him, and he began to have experiences that he took to be revelations from Allah, the one true God. He was convinced that he had been called to be a “Messenger of God,” and continued to receive revelations supposedly dictated by the angel Gabriel over a 20-year period. These revelations were memorized by Muhammad’s followers, eventually written down and codified in the Qur’an, and are understood by Muslims to be the Word of God. Muhammad regarded himself as being in continuity with prophets of the Old Testament and with Jesus. He claimed that Jews and Christians had corrupted the original revelations of God and the Qur’an is their true restoration. Muhammad met stiff resistance to his message in Mecca, and in 622 he and his followers moved to Medina in western Saudi Arabia. Medina was transformed into an Islamic theocracy under Muhammad’s leadership, and the social and religious patterns of Medina are regarded as an ideal for Islamic societies. In 630 Muhammad returned to capture Mecca, began transforming the city and increasingly all surrounding territories.

Islam, that which stems from the Qur’an interpreted faithfully with regard to its theological doctrine of Nasikh wa Mansukh, is a totalitarian ideology with a strong, aggressive and unrelenting imperialism that has all Muslims commanded to spread Islam throughout the world until universal submission to Allah has been achieved. This command is set forth many times in the Qur’an and there is no argument with it from anywhere within Islam, neither Sunni nor Shi’ite. Some Muslims may take it more seriously than others, but it is there to be obeyed regardless. Conversion to Islam must be achieved eventually “by the sword” if the infidel does not submit willingly. Islam is focussed on achieving world wide dominance.

There is a lot of misinformation around about Islam - about just what it is. For instance, you will hear it said everywhere (and even from the lips of our world leaders) that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance. While many adherents of Islam prefer to live a peaceful existence in denial of many tenets of their faith, the notion that Islam is “a religion of peace and tolerance” denies much of what is written in the Qur’an. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth! If you are in any doubt at all, for some undeniable facts, visit this website:

Islam: The Religion of Peace (and white knuckle terror)

It is important that everyone becomes aware of exactly the kind of threat that it poses to our western civilization. Without knowledge of these facts, there will be no chance of stopping Islam from achieving its goal. Even with the truth, it will be difficult and costly to do so. But people must stop believing that we can welcome Islam and simply “live and let live” with it’s presence. Maybe we can from our side, but Islam itself has a totally different agenda which will not allow that to happen.

Islam has become more of a threat in recent years due to our “postmodern” age wherein multiculturalism and liberal thinking have given rise to political correctness in all things. This currently rampant philosophy is stripping away all vestiges of the Judeo-Christian foundations upon which our western civilization was built. We must be so careful not to offend anyone with our own cultural beliefs, especially as this same philosophy has dispensed with the idea of absolutism - that reality can be known and there is such a thing as absolutes - and substituted the notion of relativism in it’s place. Relativism has it that reality cannot be known directly as what we each know is not reality itself but merely our individual perceptions of reality which may well differ each from the other. This means that everyone can be right - even when logically and rationally it is crazy to accept two quite contradictory facts as both being true! This has the effect of removing objective “content” from knowledge and allowing the subjective version “anything goes” in its place.

In this particular philosophical climate, Christianity is suffering from the tyranny of political correctness (just note, for example, how Christmas must be sanitized into a neutral holiday instead!) and with our faith robbed of it’s real content, we are left with a religio-cultural vacuum into which Islam flows with easy willingness. We have opened our arms to it’s entry by diminishing the strength of the fundamental beliefs upon which our western civilization was built.

As a Christian, I am to spread the Gospel news. However, I believe it is important to also spread the truth about a dangerous threat to the future of our civilization, the onslaught of secularization with Islam following in its wake. These things go hand-in-hand. Strengthening our Christian faith will help to provide greater resistance to the secularization then Islamicization of our free world.

The question is often asked “what is true Islam?”

True or real Islam is the way of living that the “Messenger of Allah” (Muhammad) practiced and taught, as it is understood by the majority of Muslims today. It is the Islam of the correctly interpreted Qur’an, the interpretation that takes into account the theology of abrogation (nasikh) as defined in the Qur’an and in the aHadith. Using this principle, earlier verses (surah) are cancelled out by later ones that contradict them. The early Mecca surahs are the more peaceful and tolerant ones, most since replaced by the later Medina surahs which are loaded with hatred and violence toward the infidel. It is very important to note that the surah of the Qur’an are not arranged in chronological order, thus reading from cover-to-cover does not give one the knowledge of which ones are abrogated by others.

To add to the confusion, we see Muslims practising Islam in very different ways from each other and that often leads to a variety of different viewpoints concerning the nature of Islam. Not every Muslim is a radical fundamentalist, and not every Muslim is a moderate, and there is a lot that is hidden that unbelievers are not privvy to either.

Many Muslims living among us are peaceful people and simply want to get on with going to work, earning a living, and enjoying raising their families. They express horror at the acts of terrorists and have no wish to be killed either. Some could be described as more “Islam by culture” than “Islam by religion”, but that in itself is confusing since Islam does not separate religion, culture and politics in the way that church and state are separate in western society. It is also quite possible that many Muslims living in the western world are not particularly literate in their own faith, and have a genuine preference for the revelations of Muhammad from his Mecca period rather than those of his Medina period. The former are the more tolerant and peaceful revelations whereas the latter most certainly are not - they command the true Muslim believer to convert everyone or else kill those who will not submit to Allah, and they offer rewards in Paradise for Muslim martyrdom. Some Muslims would also be called apostates by their more devout Muslim brothers.

We are constantly hearing that Islam is a peaceful religion - even Prince Charles seems to prefer this idea, and it is all too easy to assume that he must be well informed being who he is. But in that I must disagree. To believe anything on such flimsy credentials is very unwise and will quickly lead to error. I don’t wish you to accept my opinions unquestionably either although I am reasonably well read on the subject. Instead, I point to the writings of authors whose credentials are worthy of respect, and to the evidence of the Qur’an and aHadith themselves. To listen to the explanations of Muslims themselves one must be cautious. Islam espouses “holy hypocrisy” or the practice of taqiyya which allows Muslims to deceive and give a false rendition of truth - or simply not tell the truth when it suits their cause not to do so. There is a simple Islamic proverb that says: “If you can’t cut your enemies’ hand, kiss it.”

So what is the real Islam?

Check out this summary: Islam 101

The name itself tells all. Islam means “submission” and what is meant is submission, total and universal, to the will of Allah.

The problem we are facing is that of the aggressive encroachment of Islam into the West with the intention of whole world domination - total submission of all people everywhere to the worship of Allah - and to make sharia law universal. This is the real Islam, the Islam of the Qur’an.

Islam Undressed by Vernon Richards

The link above takes you to an excellent e-book that provides a critical analysis of “real Islam”, its people, culture, philosophy, and practices of yesterday and today. I recommend it as an answer to further questions on the subject of Islam.
As well as that, read the Qur’an and aHadith and be your own judge of what you find. I should also add a warning for those who wisely check sources: What you will read in the Qur’an and aHadith is likely to make your hair stand on end. They are most definitely not for the feint-hearted.

So what does Islam teach, and how does it compare with Christianity?

The ESV Study Bible tells it this way:

Islam teaches that the present world will one day be destroyed by Allah and that all humankind, past and present, will then be raised to face divine judgment. Human beings have a weakness of will and a tendency toward sin. Although humans are tempted by Iblis (the devil), it is within their power to resist and remain faithful to the will of Allah. In the judgment, each person’s deeds will be impartially weighed in the balance. Salvation is strictly on the basis of submission to Allah and faithful adherence to the teachings of Islam. Some will be admitted to Paradise, others consigned to Hell.

Jesus is mentioned frequently in the Qur’an. He is called the Messiah, Son of Mary, Messenger, Prophet, Servant, Word, and Spirit of God. Jesus is portrayed as a great miracle worker and one of the greatest of the prophets. The virgin conception of Jesus is affirmed in the Qur’an.

But the Qur’an omits Jesus’ teachings as contained in the Gospels and provides no narrative description of his ministry. The Qur’an depicts Jesus as explicitly disclaiming deity (5:109–119) and includes numerous denunciations of what seem to have been views that were common in Muhammad’s lifetime regarding the Christian doctrines of the incarnation and the Trinity (cf. 4:171; 5:17; 9:30–31). Although a great prophet of God, Jesus is said to have been in no sense divine. Particularly offensive is the Christian title “Son of God,” which is understood by Muslims as referring to physical generation. “Never has Allah begotten a son, nor is there any other god besides Him” (23:93). Muhammad seems to have thought of the Trinity as consisting of the Father, the Virgin Mary, and their child, Jesus.

Traditionally, most Muslims have believed that Jesus was not crucified. Surah 4:155–159 denies that Jesus was in fact killed on the cross. A widely accepted interpretation of this text has been that the Jews tried to kill Jesus but were unable to do so, and that God rescued him and carried him away to a safe place in the heavens. Islam denies the need for a Savior and the substitutionary atonement. The Qur’an states that “no soul shall bear another’s burden and that each man shall be judged by his own labors” (53:38). Salvation is by works. “On that day no soul shall suffer the least injustice. You shall be rewarded according only to your deeds” (36:54).

Islam teaches a doctrine of absolute monotheism known as tawhid. Absolute monotheism is distinct from the Trinitarian monotheism of Christianity in that the Qur’an permits no distinctions within God. Christianity teaches that there is one God, known in three eternal persons. While Muslims welcome the Christian affirmation of one God, they maintain that belief in the three persons compromises the unity of God and makes Christianity functionally tritheistic (i.e., believing in three gods; see 4:171).

Traditional Islamic teaching does not accept that humans were created in the image of God. Islam has no doctrine of a sin nature and therefore does not believe that humanity is either depraved or fallen. Instead, men and women have the innate capacity to believe and submit to the Islamic revelation. Islam classifies the entire human race into four categories. The first is jahiliyyah, meaning those in a “state of ignorance” (5:50) who do not have a monotheistic revelation and have not yet heard Muhammad’s message. The second are the ahl al-kitab, or “People of the Book.” These are monotheistic people who have not received the Qur’an but who have a book of revelation, such as Christians and Jews (see, e.g., 2:105; 3:64–199; 4:123; 5:15; 29:46; 33:26; 57:29; 59:11; 98:1–6). The third category is Muslim, an Arabic word meaning “those who submit”; it refers to monotheists who have submitted to Allah and regard the Qur’an as Allah’s greatest (some say, eternal) revelation and Muhammad as the final “seal” of the prophets (33:40). The fourth category refers to those peoples who have heard the message of Islam but rejected it, the kafir (meaning “unbeliever” or “infidel”).

Muslims universally affirm that Islam is the highest and only non-corrupted religion. Christianity and Judaism are accorded some respect as monotheistic religions flowing from the Abrahamic tradition (29:46). All other religions are generally regarded as expressions of human ignorance and an unwillingness to submit to Allah.

Since Muslims do not accept the doctrine of the fall or of a subsequent sin nature, there is no need of redemption. Islamic “salvation” is understood almost wholly as future deliverance from final judgment. Many Muslims maintain that whoever believes in the oneness of God (tawhid) and the prophethood of Muhammad will be saved from the fire of judgment. Other Muslims insist on submission to Allah through adherence to the five pillars of Islam: confession of faith (shahadah), daily ritual prayer (salat), the giving of alms (zakat), fasting during Ramadan (sawm), and a pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj). Based on revered Islamic traditions known as Hadith, some Muslims believe that Allah grants Muhammad the honor of interceding for the entire Islamic community at the final judgment, allowing all Muslims to be saved.

Muslims universally regard the Bible as a corrupted text. The doctrine of corruption (tahrif) asserts that the transmission of Jewish and Christian texts was unreliable (5:13–14), or Christians and Jews willfully altered the biblical texts because of enmity or jealously (2:109).

Dishonouring Jesus

It needs to be said…

Jesus is not honoured by being called a great prophet.
He was and is the Messiah, the Christ. He is the Son of God.

To think that one honours Him by regarding Him as a great prophet, but not as the Christ, is to belittle and denigrate Him instead.

This is what Islam does to our Saviour.

Islam is offended by the Christian belief that Jesus is the Son of God. Some passages in the Qur’an seem to deliberately contradict the biblical proclamation about Jesus Christ. For example, “Those who say: ‘The Lord of Mercy has begotten a son,’ preach a monstrous falsehood, at which the very heavens might crack, the earth break asunder, and the mountains crumble to dust . . . that they should ascribe a son to the Merciful, when it does not become Him to beget one!” (19:88–91). In Surah 61, Jesus is pictured as a prophet heralding the way for the coming of Muhammad (61:6). Surah 4 teaches that Jesus was not crucified on the cross (4:155–159). Thus, while respecting Jesus as a prophet of God, the Qur’an does not affirm the deity of Jesus Christ or his death as a substitute payment for sins.

Not just Islam, but any religion - and any individual - dishonours Jesus when they do not recognize Him for who He is.

But isn’t it just a matter of perception and we are talking about the same God?

Isn’t it just that we have different perceptions of the same Supreme Being? Well, here is an analogy for you to consider.

Take the situation in which you and I believe that we might know someone in common. I describe this person according to my knowledge and experience of him, and you look somewhat surprised. Yes, many of those characteristic do fit, you say, but didn’t I know that he has a son as well? Nope, I didn’t know that. In fact I am quite sure that he doesn’t because he never married nor had any such relationship with anyone. Oh, and did I know that he also has written a book? Yes, I knew he had written a book and that it was about the warring tribes of the sixth century. You look at me strangely. No it wasn’t anything to do with warring tribes of the sixth century, but to do with his son and many other things as well. Then we begin to realize there are a great many other significant things that don’t quite stack up. You tell me that this person is very keen to befriend and help others, and I think that is most odd because I found him to be totally impersonal and very severe. We are both absolutely certain of our facts and so may start to wonder if we are actually talking about the same person… perhaps we had made a mistake about that, and it is two different people we are talking about.

In fact, given two laws of logic, the Law of Non Contradiction and the Law of the Excluded Middle, the most logical and rational conclusion we can come to is that we are speaking of two entirely different persons.

Knowing the true facts regarding Islam does not have to make a person a hater of Muslims.

It is very important not to fall into that trap, that of hating the person because one does not share the same beliefs and has an objection, no matter how strong, to those beliefs. I am dismayed by what I read in the Qur’an - dismayed and frustrated by the misrepresentation of Judeo-Christian scriptures, the misinterpretations and distortions, and the amount of hatred and violence I find there. That is not the kind of world that I want to live in, and not the kind of way that I want to behave towards others myself. But I do not hate Muslims, and I would far rather that they open their minds, hearts and souls to the truth and love of the real Jesus, not ‘Isa as they believe Him to be, and come to know for themselves that unlike their god Allah, our God is both righteous and full of immeasurable love.

Matthew 5:43-45

The authors whom I reference in anything that I write about Islam are those with authentic and credible qualifications to write as they do, and they are all regarded as knowledgeable and credible by others in this field. I have listed many of them below and referenced the books and papers that they have had published, and linked to a great many websites with well substantiated further information. I do not make up anything about Islam. Instead, I point to what these authors are writing.

It is important for the reader to regard critically all protests of those who set about trying to discount the information that is presented by these authors.

Many who protest in that manner are Muslims who want to present a nicer side to Islam, one that they may well truly wholeheartedly believe themselves to be the truth, but which is at variance with what is written here or on websites beyond this one. Some of these people have adopted a “moderate version” of Islam and claim that the “radicalized” Islam of the Middle East is not true Islam. However, there is much to be said about this position as the “moderate” believers do little (if anything) to defy their own Muslim brotherhood whose beliefs and behaviours are such a cause for concern, and much else is also denied in the face of objective reality. They claim of these authors that they are spreading lies and have an agenda based on hatred and unrealistic fear. The claim is unfounded. Objective reality demonstrates that reasonable fear of Islam is not unrealistic and that the facts are proven truthful, substantiated both by world events and Muslims themselves. One must really question the agenda of those “moderate” Muslims who deny that it is the case and insist upon a benign interpretation of Islam instead.

Brigitte Gabriel: An Open Letter to President Obama

(Brigitte Gabriel is the New York Times bestselling author of They Must Be Stopped: Why We Must Defeat Radical Islam and How We Can Do It. She is the founder and president of ACT! for America, ACT! For America.)

With thanks to my friend, Mark Alexander, for publishing this letter on his own website here.

Dear Mr. President,

You face difficult challenges in matters such as achieving peace in the Middle East and protecting America from the threat of radical Islam and terrorism. These are challenges that have vexed past presidents, going as far back as our second president, John Adams. I have no doubt you appreciate both the gravity of these challenges and the enormous obstacles that exist to solving them.

I also have no doubt that you and your staff understood that, no matter what you said in your speech last Thursday in Cairo, there would be those who would take issue with you. That is always the case when attempting to solve problems that are as deep and emotionally-laden as these challenges are.

I am assuming it is your sincere hope that the approach you have chosen to take, as evidenced by what I’m sure was a carefully crafted speech, will ultimately prove successful. However, it pains me to say this sir, but, while you said in your speech that you are a “student of history,” it is abundantly clear that, in these matters, you do not know history and thus, as Santayana noted, you are doomed to repeat it. In doing so your efforts, however well-intentioned they may be, will not produce what you profess to hope they will produce.

A wise man once said that if you start with the wrong assumptions, no matter how logical your reasoning is, you will end up with the wrong conclusion. With all due respect Mr. President, you are starting with certain assumptions that are unsupported by history and an objective study of the ideology of political Islam.

You began in your speech by asserting that “tensions” exist between the United States and Muslims around the world, which, of course, is correct. Unfortunately, you then proceeded, incorrectly, to lay virtually all the blame for these tensions at the feet of America and the West. You blamed western colonialism, the Cold War, and even modernity and globalism.

A student of American history, who is not trying to reconstruct it to fit a modern politically correct narrative, would state that tensions between America and Muslims began with the unprovoked, four-decades long assault by the Muslim Barbary pirates against American shipping in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. I find it telling that you mentioned the Treaty of Tripoli in your speech but ignored the circumstances that led to it. That treaty was but one of numerous attempts by the United States to achieve peace with the jihadists of the Barbary Coast who were attacking our shipping and killing and enslaving our citizens and our soldiers – and who by their own admission were doing so to fulfill the call to jihad.

These jihadists were not acting to protest American foreign policy, which was decidedly isolationist, and there was no state of Israel to scapegoat. They were doing what countless Islamic jihadists have done throughout history – acting upon the hundreds of passages in the Qur’an and the Hadith that call upon faithful Muslims to kill, conquer or subjugate the infidel.

A student of world history would know that, for all the acknowledged evils of Western colonialism, these evils pale in comparison to the nearly 14 centuries of Islamic colonialism that began in Arabia under the leadership of Mohammed. The student of history would know that Islamic forces eradicated all Jewish and Christian presence from Arabia after Mohammed’s death, and then succeeded in conquering all of North Africa, most of the Middle East, much of Asia Minor, and significant portions of Europe and India – eventually creating an empire larger than Rome’s was at its peak.

The number of dead and enslaved during these many centuries of Islamic imperial conquest and colonialism have been estimated to total more than 300 million. What’s more, the wealth of many of the conquered nations and cultures was plundered by the Islamic conquerors, and millions of millions of non-Muslims who did survive were forced to pay onerous taxes, such as the “jizya,” a humiliation tax to the Islamic caliphs. Indeed, in some areas Christians and Jews were made to wear a receipt for the jizya around their neck as a mark of their dishonor.

These facts have not been invented by Christian or Jewish historical revisionists, but were chronicled by Muslim eyewitnesses throughout the past 14 centuries and are available to be researched by any person seeking an objective understanding of how Islam spread throughout the world.

You say in your speech that we must squarely face the tensions that exist between America and the Muslim world. That is a laudable notion with which I agree, but by casting Islam as the historical victim and the West (and by implication, America) as the aggressor, you do not face these tensions squarely, but alleviate the Muslim world from coming to grips with the jihadist ideology embedded in its holy books and acted upon for 1,400 years.

Even worse, you empower and embolden militant Islamists who regard your gestures as signs of weakness and capitulation.

The issue is not that all Muslims are terrorists or radicals or extremists. We all know that the majority of Muslims are not. We also know that many peace-loving Muslims are victims of Islamist violence.

The issue is this: what drives hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide to call for the death of Jews?

What drives millions of Muslims to riot, destroy property, and take innocent lives in reaction to the Danish cartoons?

What drives tens of thousands of Muslims to demand the execution of a British teacher whose only “crime” was allowing her students to name their teddy bears “Mohammed”?

What drives countless Muslims worldwide to actively participate in, or fund, or provide nurture to, terrorist organizations?

What drives Muslims in mosques in America to proclaim and distribute materials that call for hatred of and the destruction of infidels?

What drives entire Islamic countries to prohibit the building of a Christian church or synagogue?

To assume, as you apparently do, that what drives these actions is not an ideology embedded in the holy books of Islam, but rather other “root causes,” most of which you lay at the feet of America and the West, is at best naïve and at worst dangerous.

Lastly, I must address your statement that “Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance.” Unfortunately, the examples you gave are the exception rather than the rule.

Historically speaking, I seriously doubt the Egyptian Copts, the Lebanese Maronites, the Christians in Bethlehem, the Assyrians, the Hindus, the Jews, and many others who have been persecuted by Islamic violence and supremacism, would agree with your assertion.

For instance, Christians and Jews became “Dhimmis,” a second class group under Islam. Dhimmis were forced to wear distinctive clothing; it was Baghdad’s Caliph Al-Mutawakkil, in the ninth century, who designated a yellow badge for Jews under Islam, which Hitler copied and duplicated in Nazi Germany nearly a thousand years later.

I witnessed first-hand the “tolerance” of Islam when Islamists ravaged my country of birth, Lebanon, in the 1970’s, leaving widespread death and destruction in their wake. I saw how they re-paid the tolerance that Lebanese Christians extended toward them. My experience is not an isolated one. When you make an unfounded assertion about the “proud tradition” of tolerance in Islam, you do a great disservice to the hundreds of millions of non-Muslims who have been killed, maimed, enslaved, conquered, subjugated or displaced – in the cause of Islamic jihad.

Mr. President, those of us like me who are ringing the alarm in America about the threat of radical Islam would like nothing better than to peacefully co-exist with the Muslim world. Most Americans would like nothing better than to peacefully co-exist with the Muslim world. The obstacle to achieving this does not lie with us in America and the West. It lies with the hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide, including many of their spiritual leaders, who take seriously the repeated calls to jihad in the Qur’an and the Hadith. Who regard “infidels” as inferior and worthy of conquering, subjugating and forcibly converting. Who support “cultural jihad” as a means to subvert non-Muslim societies from within. Who take seriously the admonitions throughout the Qur’an and the Hadith to convert the world to Islam – by force if necessary – and bring it under the rule of Allah.

Unless you are willing to courageously and honestly accept this, your aspirations for worldwide comity and peace in the Middle East are doomed to fail.

Sincerely,
Brigitte Gabriel

Islam: The enemy of democracy and freedom!
by Mark Alexander

Until 9/11, the western world was largely ignorant of the religion of Islam, of its goals, of its aspirations. Indeed, even since 9/11, most people, and that includes our politicians, would not score very highly in a test of their knowledge on the subject. It should be obvious to all thinking people that our politicians are actually unaware, dare I say blind, to the dangers that Islam will increasingly cause us. It is truly a case of the blind leading the blind! That means to say, uninformed and unthinking politicians leading an ill-informed electorate. But folks, this is what we have right now. The same can hardly be said of Muslims in the Islamic world, though; for their knowledge of Christianity far surpasses - even though much of their knowledge is quite distorted - any knowledge of Islam by the man in the street in the West.

As the old saying goes, knowledge is power. But what we often don’t hear uttered is its converse: Ignorance is weakness!

The West is far weaker than it need be because of this ignorance of Islam, since Islam is our greatest enemy. The greatest enemy since Nazism and communism. I’ll give you some good reasons why this is so. And none of them - absolutely none of them - are based on hatred!

Islam is the enemy of the West for a plethora of good, solid reasons, and if we wish to survive as a civilization, we are going to have to bite the bullet and deal, head on, with the issues these reasons raise. Let us begin…

First and foremost, we are dealing with a religion which does not recognize any separation of politics and religion, any separation of the political from the spiritual. For Muslims, life is one coherent whole: the political and spiritual both meld into one. This has always been so, and always will be. No re-classification of the religion into two separate parts is possible because of Islam’s very nature.

In Islam, all power rests with Allah, the god of Muslims. The Qur’an, their holy book, is always taken literally. Those words are considered to be the actual words of Allah. Therefore, none of these words can be changed, for to change any of them would be tantamount to tampering with Allah’s words. This would be a grave sin in their eyes.

For the same reason that the words contained in the Qur’an cannot be changed, they cannot, therefore, be re-interpreted either. So do not hold your breath for any kind of reformation in this religion, because it ain’t gonna happen!

In Islam, all power rests with Allah, and it filters down via his vice-gerents on earth to the people. Hence the great desire among Muslims to restore the caliphate. Contrast this with the Western model of government!

In the West, the ideal political system is democracy. In democracy, all power rests with the people, and they exercise that power at the polls. In a democracy, all power filters in the opposite direction from Islam. In democracy it filters up; in Islam, down! Herein lies the greatest barrier to the miscibility of the two worlds: the western world and the Islamic world!

Without digressing too much here, I should like to add that this is the main reason why George W Bush and Blair’s venture into Iraq to bring democracy there was a grave error of judgment. How can one bring democracy to a region of the world where the people who inhabit that region believe that all power rests with Allah, and where they believe that Allah has prescribed their way of life for them for then, for now, and for all time?

I would suggest that where such a dichotomy exists, the most sensible and prudent thing to do would be for us to lead our lives as we see fit, and for those people to be allowed to live their lives as they see fit. That way, there would be hope of some peace in this world.

But this is not what we have done. We have done the very opposite of this: We have entered the Middle East in the hope - the vain hope in my opinion - of bringing our way of doing things, our way of life, to them; furthermore, we have allowed millions and millions of Muslims into the West - and at the very time when Christianity, the religion which underpins the West, is greatly weakened anyway - which will only give us headaches for the years ahead. Why? Because Muslims who immigrate bring their hopes and dreams and aspirations with them of establishing Islam everywhere on earth. To Islamize the world is the main aspiration of the Muslim; and we have seen these past weeks, the manifestation of aggression in its cause in France. For what happened in France was in no small part because of the Muslim’s desire to establish Allah’s caliphate here on earth. These were the first rumblings, the first roar of the lion! Expect more of this in the future, as Islam grows stronger and stronger.

Muslims, by and large, do not respect non-Muslims. How can they? Their religion does not allow them to do so. Their religion preaches that Muslims are superior to non-Muslims; indeed, they use the derogatory term infidel for us. This word to some Westerners might simply mean that they call us infidels because we are people who do not subscribe to their faith. This, after all, would be quite logical, since to us it simply means not fidele, or not true to the faith. But this does not completely describe what Muslims mean by this term. To Muslims, to be called an infidel is an insult indeed! It has connotations of inferiority, backwardness, and even uncleanness!

You see, Muslims believe that Islam is the perfection of religion for man for all time. They call it ad deen al kamal, the perfect religion. People, in their eyes, who have not yet submitted to the will of Allah, are in a state of pre-Islamic chaos, a state known to them as Jahiliyyah! To Muslims, all Muslims, the whole world is classified in two parts: that part of the world which has submitted, and is therefore in the Islamic state, known as Dar al Islam, and that part of the world which has yet to submit, and is therefore in a pre-Islamic, chaotic, jahiliyyic state, known as Dar al Harb, or the House of War!

The House of War is the part of the world which has yet to be taken over, and must at some point be taken over in the future. We, I am sorry to inform you, are in the House of War. So we can expect anything at anytime.

Some people would ask why we were able to go for quite a long time without problems with Muslims. The answer to that is a simple one indeed. First of all, there were relatively few Muslims living in the West, so the ones that did live here were not powerful. Secondly, Muslims living in the Islamic world were, for the most part and for many years, poor by anyone’s standards. This all changed with the Oil Embargo of the 70s - a time when the price of oil on the world markets soared. As a result of this, the Islamic world became rich and empowered. Money is power; and it talks loudly! In recent years we have seen evidence aplenty of Islam being on the move. I tell you now: If we do not find a way of clipping its wings here in the West, we shall lose our democracy, and we shall be in deep, deep trouble.

So the trouble we will have with Muslims will not come only from without, but in the future we can expect trouble from the Muslims within. The millions of Muslims living here in the West will not integrate, because it is not in their worldview to do so. It is also forbidden them by their very own Prophet Himself, the Prophet Muhammad. He forbade Muslims even to befriend infidels. He also exhorted them to kill us. And he certainly told them that they should live separate lives, and dress and behave differently, so that they could easily tell themselves apart.

No Western politician is going to be able to change these facts. For facts they are indeed. Moreover, as Islam will grow here, their numbers will become greater and greater, and they will be able to use our democratic system to outvote us and introduce their form of government based as it is on their beloved Shariah, or quranic laws! How do you propose we shall be able to stop them? We shall be outnumbered, and as the outcome of democratic elections depends on the number of votes cast, we shall be able to do nothing about it! This time will come quicker than we might think, because so few babies are being born to infidel families.

The only thing left for people to do, will be to fight. Inevitably, at some point, civil war will ensue. If the political process fails people, then this will be all that will be left for them: civil war, guerre civile, Bürgerkrieg, call it what you will.

But one thing I can assure you, no politicians’ sweet talk, posturing, or manÅ“vring, will get us out of this one without conflict at some point in the future.

You see, one of the biggest problems for the West is its devotion to the concept of freedom of religion. This is a lofty concept and ideal indeed; but this devotion blinds people to one important reality: Islam is not just a religion, but a political system also. Indeed, it is more of a political system than anything else, and it is, in addition, a political system diametrically opposed to our own. It abhorrs freedom of choice, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of anything that we so cherish! The only thing one is free to do in Islam is become a Muslim, and submit to the will of Allah!

These two systems are totally immiscible, and unfortunately, we have imported this immiscibility right into the heart of the West! To our own great disadvantage, and to the disadvantage of our long term peace and security. What, I ask you, will the Americans do when the ever growing Muslim population in America starts wanting to tinker with the Americans’ beloved Constitution? When Muslims will see their way clear to supplant the Constitution with Shariah law?

Questions like these are the ones we should be grappling with NOW. To wait until the time comes would be foolish indeed.

Wake up to the harsh realities of life in the twenty-first century! We’ve got some collective thinking to do if we wish to save ourselves from darkness! Perhaps we shall, indeed, be forced to think about having to re-classify Islam as a political system first and foremost, a political system immiscible with our own, and one whose advance needs to be forestalled. This may be one of our only sensible alternatives. Since to give complete, unhampered freedom to Islam to grow here in the West is tantamount to digging our own graves!

Mark Alexander is a graduate of London University. He has an honors degree in economics. Further, he has a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education with Distinction. As well as his native language, English, he speaks German fluently, reads French, and has a sound knowledge of Arabic. Over the years, articles of his have appeared on education, languages, and economics in British newspapers such as The Independent, The Times, and The Sunday Times. His international travel has widely influenced his world perspective.

While living and working in the Middle East for many years, Mark's uncommonly perceptive observations and keen insights led him to predict the Islamic quest for domination which is only now being played out on the world stage.

Mark Alexander is a Western author deeply concerned about the future of Western civilization. In The Dawning of a New Dark Age, Mark has written powerfully about the rise of Islam in the West, and the dangers that lie ahead as a result.

Mark is uncommonly articulate, insightful, and perspicacious. These qualities are particularly evident in his understanding of the Islamic worldview and the intentions of Muslims vis-a-vis the West. You will surely find his message both riveting and shocking!

For those who are not convinced that Islam is such a threat to our Western civilization, read the following words from Dr Patrick Sookhdeo who is the International Director of the Barnabas Fund and the Institute for the Study of Islam and Christianity. Dr Sookhdeo was born and raised a Muslim, de-converted as a young adult, now holds a PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University and was awarded a Doctor of Divinity by Western Seminary, Portland, Oregon for his work in the field of pluralism. He has written and lectures widely in the field of other faiths. Both Patrick and his wife Rosemary hold dual New Zealand and British citizenship.

Here are some interesting words of his:

In 1980 the Islamic Council of Europe published a book called Muslim Communities in Non-Muslim States which clearly explained the Islamic agenda in Europe.

When Muslims live as a minority they face theological problems, because classical Islamic teaching always presupposed a context of Islamic dominance; hence the need for guidance on how to live in non-Muslim states. The instructions given in the book told Muslims to get together and organise themselves with the aim of establishing a viable Muslim community based on Islamic principles. This is the duty of every individual Muslim living within a non-Muslim political entity. They should set up mosques, community centres and Islamic schools. At all costs they must avoid being assimilated by the majority. In order to resist assimilation, they must group themselves geographically, forming areas of high Muslim concentration within the population as a whole. Yet they must also interact with non-Muslims so as to share the message of Islam with them. Every Muslim individual is required to participate in the plan; it is not allowed for anyone simply to live as a “good Muslim” without assisting the overall strategy. The ultimate goal of this strategy is that the Muslims should become a majority and the entire nation be governed according to Islam.

(M. Ali Kettani “The Problems of Muslim Minorities and their Solutions” in Muslim Communities in Non-Muslim States
(London: Islamic Council of Europe, 1980) pp.96-105

Read the whole of his paper, THE ISLAMIZATION OF EUROPE to understand more about what is well underway in Europe.

The day is coming when British Muslims form a state within a state, written by Alasdair Palmer (February, 2006) also reports comments by Dr Patrick Sookhdeo.

Do you understand the background to the current Israeli/Lebanon conflict?

Watch the hour-long video “Relentless” which tells the story of Israel and Palestine from the 1948 creation of the state of Israel onwards, including the Oslo Agreement and how the terms were violated.

The unrelenting intention behind every action on the part of the Islam-driven parties involved is the total eradication of Jews, as per the Qur’an, in the name of Muhammad and submission to Allah.

Throughout this video presentation you see exactly what Islam is all about - and it is harrowing.
What you see you may well find offensive, such as the brainwashed children who tell interviewers that “martyrdom is beautiful” and “why stand in the entrance to Paradise when you can walk right in” and that they will become martyrs (suicide bombers) “because we will not be children forever” (and Paradise is forever).

Because They Hate
by Brigitte Gabriel, a Lebanese Christian now living in the USA.

FrontPageMagazine.com - February 20, 2006

Below are selected excerpts from Brigitte Gabriel’s speech delivered at the Intelligence Summit in Washington DC, Saturday February 18, 2006

We gather here today to share information and knowledge. Intelligence is not merely cold hard data about numerical strength or armament or disposition of military forces. The most important element of intelligence has to be understanding the mindset and intention of the enemy. The West has been wallowing in a state of ignorance and denial for thirty years as Muslim extremist perpetrated evil against innocent victims in the name of Allah.

I was ten years old when my home exploded around me, burying me under the rubble and leaving me to drink my blood to survive, as the perpetrators shouted “Allah Akbar!” My only crime was that I was a Christian living in a Christian town. At 10 years old, I learned the meaning of the word “infidel.”

I had a crash course in survival. Not in the Girl Scouts, but in a bomb shelter where I lived for seven years in pitch darkness, freezing cold, drinking stale water and eating grass to live. At the age of 13 I dressed in my burial clothes going to bed at night, waiting to be slaughtered. By the age of 20, I had buried most of my friends–killed by Muslims. We were not Americans living in New York, or Britons in London. We were Arab Christians living in Lebanon.

As a victim of Islamic terror, I was amazed when I saw Americans waking up on September 12, 2001, and asking themselves “Why do they hate us?” The psychoanalyst experts were coming up with all sort of excuses as to what did we do to offend the Muslim World. But if America and the West were paying attention to the Middle East they would not have had to ask the question. Simply put, they hate us because we are defined in their eyes by one simple word: “infidels.”

Under the banner of Islam “la, ilaha illa allah, muhammad rasoulu allah,” (None is god except Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah) they murdered Jewish children in Israel, massacred Christians in Lebanon, killed Copts in Egypt, Assyrians in Syria, Hindus in India, and expelled almost 900,000 Jews from Muslim lands. We Middle Eastern infidels paid the price then. Now infidels worldwide are paying the price for indifference and shortsightedness.

Tolerating evil is a crime. Appeasing murderers doesn’t buy protection. It earns one disrespect and loathing in the enemy’s eyes. Yet apathy is the weapon by which the West is committing suicide. Political correctness forms the shackles around our ankles, by which Islamists are leading us to our demise.

America and the West are doomed to failure in this war unless they stand up and identify the real enemy: Islam. You hear about Wahabbi and Salafi Islam as the only extreme form of Islam. All the other Muslims, supposedly, are wonderful moderates. Closer to the truth are the pictures of the irrational eruption of violence in reaction to the cartoons of Mohammed printed by a Danish newspaper. From burning embassies, to calls to butcher those who mock Islam, to warnings that the West be prepared for another holocaust, those pictures have given us a glimpse into the real face of the enemy. News pictures and video of these events represent a canvas of hate decorated by different nationalities who share one common ideology of hate, bigotry and intolerance derived from one source: authentic Islam. An Islam that is awakening from centuries of slumber to re-ignite its wrath against the infidel and dominate the world. An Islam which has declared “Intifada” on the West.

America and the West can no longer afford to lay in their lazy state of overweight ignorance. The consequences of this mental disease are starting to attack the body, and if they don’t take the necessary steps now to control it, death will be knocking soon. If you want to understand the nature of the enemy we face, visualize a tapestry of snakes. They slither and they hiss, and they would eat each other alive, but they will unite in a hideous mass to achieve their common goal of imposing Islam on the world.

This is the ugly face of the enemy we are fighting. We are fighting a powerful ideology that is capable of altering basic human instincts. An ideology that can turn a mother into a launching pad of death. A perfect example is a recently elected Hamas official in the Palestinian Territories who raves in heavenly joy about sending her three sons to death and offering the ones who are still alive for the cause. It is an ideology that is capable of offering highly educated individuals such as doctors and lawyers far more joy in attaining death than any respect and stature, life in society is ever capable of giving them.

The United States has been a prime target for radical Islamic hatred and terror. Every Friday, mosques in the Middle East ring with shrill prayers and monotonous chants calling death, destruction and damnation down on America and its people. The radical Islamists' deeds have been as vile as their words. Since the Iran hostage crisis, more than three thousand Americans have died in a terror campaign almost unprecedented in its calculated cruelty along with thousands of other citizens worldwide. Even the Nazis did not turn their own children into human bombs, and then rejoice at their deaths as well the deaths of their victims. This intentional, indiscriminate and wholesale murder of innocent American citizens is justified and glorified in the name of Islam.

America cannot effectively defend itself in this war unless and until the American people understand the nature of the enemy that we face. Even after 9/11 there are those who say that we must “engage” our terrorist enemies, that we must “address their grievances”. Their grievance is our freedom of religion. Their grievance is our freedom of speech. Their grievance is our democratic process where the rule of law comes from the voices of many not that of just one prophet. It is the respect we instill in our children towards all religions. It is the equality we grant each other as human beings sharing a planet and striving to make the world a better place for all humanity. Their grievance is the kindness and respect a man shows a woman, the justice we practice as equals under the law, and the mercy we grant our enemy. Their grievance cannot be answered by an apology for who or what we are.

Our mediocre attitude of not confronting Islamic forces of bigotry and hatred wherever they raised their ugly head in the last 30 years, has empowered and strengthened our enemy to launch a full scale attack on the very freedoms we cherish in their effort to impose their values and way of life on our civilization.

If we don’t wake up and challenge our Muslim community to take action against the terrorists within it, if we don’t believe in ourselves as Americans and in the standards we should hold every patriotic American to, we are going to pay a price for our delusion. For the sake of our children and our country, we must wake up and take action. In the face of a torrent of hateful invective and terrorist murder, America's learning curve since the Iran hostage crisis is so shallow that it is almost flat. The longer we lay supine, the more difficult it will be to stand erect.

Brigitte Gabriel is the President and Founder of the American Congress For Truth

Evil prevails when good people do nothing. With the spread of radical Islamic fundamentalism throughout the world, it is important for the people of the western world to know and understand what to expect and what to do about it.

We are faced with a war that has been declared on Christians and Jews in America and the world. Citizens of the most powerful country on earth watched in horror on 9/11, 2001 as a handful of men brought the United States of America to its knees. Wall Street froze, the stock market tumbled, and national air traffic ground to a halt. The West faces a threat more menacing today than the past goals of communist world domination.

We are facing an enemy that uses children as human bombs, mothers as suicide bombers, and men driven by the glory of death and the promise of eternal sexual bliss in heaven. We are fighting an enemy that loves death more than we love life. I am a victim of the Lebanese civil war, which was the first front in the worldwide Jihad of militant Islam against the only Christian country in the Middle East. My family's home was shelled and destroyed leaving me wounded. I lived underground in a bomb shelter from age 10 to 17 without electricity and very little food. I had to crawl under sniper bullets to a spring to fetch water for my elderly parents. I was betrayed by my country, rescued by my enemy Israel, the Jewish State that is under attack for its existence today.

911 changed most American lives forever, but it struck an especially sensitive chord with me. It reminded me that the entire world is threatened by the same radical Islamic theology that succeeded in annihilating the “infidels” in Lebanon. That's why I created American Congress for Truth. ACT was formed in June 2002 to inform, inspire and motivate Jews and Christians throughout society in ways to act and fight for our western ways of life and the values we cherish. Our members include Jews, Arabs and Christians from all background both secular and religious, liberals and conservatives. People who have put their differences aside to combat both anti American and anti Israel propaganda masquerading as anti Imperialism and anti Zionism wherever it exists; in the western media, among the intellectual elite, and on American college Campuses.

So many times in history in the last 100 years, citizens have stood by and done nothing allowing evil to prevail. As America stood up against and defeated communism now it is time to stand up against the terror of religious bigotry and intolerance.

Watch a video interview of Brigitte Gabriel as she elaborates on her experiences and substantiates her concerns regarding the agenda of Islam.

Islam, Christianity and the Crusades

Professor Thomas Madden is a Crusades historian and chair of the Department of History at Saint Louis University. He is the author of numerous works, including A Concise History of the Crusades, and co-author, with Donald Queller, of The Fourth Crusade: The Conquest of Constantinople. He writes…

As a Crusade historian, I found the tranquil solitude of the ivory tower shattered by journalists, editors, and talk-show hosts on tight deadlines eager to get the real scoop. What were the Crusades?, they asked. When were they? Just how insensitive was President George W. Bush for using the word “crusade” in his remarks? With a few of my callers I had the distinct impression that they already knew the answers to their questions, or at least thought they did. What they really wanted was an expert to say it all back to them. For example, I was frequently asked to comment on the fact that the Islamic world has a just grievance against the West. Doesn't the present violence, they persisted, have its roots in the Crusades' brutal and unprovoked attacks against a sophisticated and tolerant Muslim world? In other words, aren't the Crusades really to blame?

Here is his very readable paper on The Real History of the Crusades.

James Arlandson is another Crusades historian who writes…

Westerners—even academics—accept the notion that the West alone was aggressive. It seems that Islam is always innocent and passive. It is difficult to uncover the source of this Western self-loathing. It is, however, a pathology that seems to strike Westerners more than other people around the globe. This anti-West pathology shows up in Westerners' hatred for the European Crusades in the Medieval Age.

It must be admitted that there is much to dislike about the European Crusades. If they are contrasted with the mission and ministry of Jesus and the first generations of Christians, then the Crusades do not look so good. But did the Europeans launch the first Crusade in a mindless, bloodthirsty and irrational way, or were there more pressing reasons? Were they the only ones to be militant?

The purpose of this article is not to justify or defend European Crusades, but to explain them, in part—though scholarship can go a long way to defend and justify them.

I agree with the following as the most appropriate Biblically Christian relationship we can have with any other religion in terms of inter-faith dialogue. There is no place for inventing and promoting theologic commonality where such does not exist.

Christian Response by Dr Joseph Mizzi

The Christian response to the Muslims is twofold.

Firstly, we must separate ourselves from Islam and clearly state that it is a false religion. “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds” (2 John 9-11). Christians do not have any ecumenical relationship with Muslims. We cannot participate in their idolatry by saying that we worship the same God. On the contrary, we must warn them that since they do not abide in the doctrine of Christ, they do not have God.

Secondly, we have an evangelistic responsibility towards Muslims. They have been indoctrinated against the Son of God. We must proclaim Him as the Son of God, the Lord from Heaven, the Saviour of the World. We must proclaim that He died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. This is our message to Muslims, and to the rest of the world, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (John 3:36).

A Disclaimer Concerning Misrepresentation on a Discussion Forum

I am very concerned to read where, on a Jewish Discussion Board, I have been misrepresented as “the owner of a Christian site with many Jewish members and [have] studied Islam for near 20 years” and that I am “a scholar of Islam“.
This is NOT the case, and furthermore, I have never made such claims about myself - nor anything remotely close that could possibly be mistaken for them.

No-one who registers in order to post comments to Judah’s Journal is required to state their religious beliefs, and I do not have any way of knowing what those would be unless an individual chooses to disclose them. I do not know if any people who have commented here are Jewish, but I do know that some are Christians. If I do not know such things, neither can they be known to the person who has made that errant statement.

I do not regard myself to be a scholar of Islam. Although I have been knowledgeable of basic comparative facts of Islam and Christianity for some time, I really became interested in gaining a better understanding of Islam only after the terrorism of 9/11. I have not therefore “studied it for near 20 years” as wrongfully reported. I have never implied any of these things and it has amazed and alarmed me that they have been said of me. However, I have read very widely and comprehensively on the subject, and my sources are credible and authoritative.

Further to this errant claim about me, another member of that forum has presumed incorrectly that I am the author of information that I have quoted from another referenced source. Perhaps this disclaimer may serve as a reminder to all who read and would transfer information to other venues that it is important to quote correctly and reference sources correctly as well. Enough said.

Postscript added 2 December 2006:

It also saddens me that my disclaimer has been picked up by a newbie to that other forum and posted there with what may possibly be (although I hope not so) an intention to cause further mischief. I wrote yesterday that I believe the false claims were the result of an unfortunate misunderstanding on the part of the person who made them. The internet name of the person who made those claims means nothing to me - it is not the name I recognize of anyone who has made comments here, nor posted to another forum where I have been. But having made such an error of judgement does not mean that the person concerned should be paraded before others for this mistake, and it is a sad thing that this unloving act has been done.

Jesus spoke about love and forgiveness. I hope that His message will not go unheard by those who visit this site, and in their dealings with all those around them.
